Bottesford Town 2–0 Wombwell Town
📍 Barrett Steel Stadium
📅 Saturday 22nd November 2025
🏆 NCEL Premier Division
Bottesford Town produced a strong, disciplined performance to claim all three points at home to Wombwell Town, with goals from Okera Simmonds and Jake Brown securing a well-earned 2–0 victory.
The Poachers started at full throttle, creating three huge chances for Okera Simmonds inside the opening ten minutes, along with two big opportunities for Jack McMenemy. Despite the pressure, Wombwell were kept level only thanks to several last-ditch blocks and a superb save from Josh Render, who reacted brilliantly to deny the visitors with the game still goalless.
A setback arrived in the 28th minute, as Mason Chaffer was forced off with an injury — a huge blow for the Poachers and a moment that left everyone hoping for positive news in the coming days.
Bottesford responded in style. On 31 minutes, Okera stepped up and delivered a stunning moment of quality, bending a beautiful free kick into the top corner to give the Poachers a deserved lead.
The hosts had the chance to double the advantage six minutes later when Jack McMenemy won a penalty, but the Wombwell goalkeeper made an excellent save to keep his side in the game.
In the second half, Danny Ward was introduced on 60 minutes, but heartbreakingly he, too, had to be withdrawn through injury just eight minutes later — the second forced change of the afternoon. Jaxon Borland replaced Okera in the 77th minute as Bottesford looked to see the game out.
The defining moment came late on when Jake Brown finished coolly into the bottom corner, sealing the points and capping off a strong Poachers display.
